Dead
Dr. Ved Kumari, human rights activist and pioneer in female literacy campaign
in Rajasthan, died in Alwar, Rajasthan, in the early hours of February 6. Dr.
Ved Kumari was the vice president of the Rajasthan PUCL and a member of the
governing body of the Samagra Sewa Sangh.
An active member of the People's movement led by Jayaprakash Narayan, Dr. Ved
Kumari fought the Emergency and worked relentlessly for the emancipation of
women and the downtrodden. She was the founder member of the Bhaartiya Gyaan
Vigyaan Samiti in Rajasthan.
Her death is a great loss to the Human Rights movement. -- General Secretary
