Dear Ms. Anjanee Rao, British Council,
Many thanks for your e-mail regarding funding proposals that the British Council has been asked to send to the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO).
I presume that you have sent this e-mail to me because of my association with the People's Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) of which I am a National Vice-President. As a matter of policy, PUCL does not accept, since its inception in 1976, any funding from any sources whatsoever. Our experience has proved that because of this policy, even our worst critics could never question PUCL's credibility, integrity, and bonafides. For an organisation like PUCL, this factor far outweighs the resource crunch that we have always been facing.
I am sure that you will appreciate our position and that you will be able to locate deserving organisations/institutions for these worthy causes.
Thanking you once
again & with best wishes,
