Arrested for possessing naxalite literature

The Jamshedpur PUCL has reported that a team of the members of the PUCL attended a Seminar on December 20 at the Pillai Hall. The subject of the Seminar was Jharkhand today. Shri Chumru Pingua conducted the Seminar. After the Seminar was over, Shri Pingua was arrested under sections 121 A & 124 A of Indian Penal Code. The PUCL members met the in charge of Sadar Police Station and the DSP Ms. Sandhya Rani Mehta to protect against arrest. They were informed by the police officers that Shri Chumru was arrested for keeping naxalite publications at his residence. The Jamshedpur PUCL has written a letter to the Superintendent of police West Singhbhum, Chaibasa to protest against this action of the local police as the literature found at the residence of Shri Pingua was not banned literature.
