Protest aginst criminal-police-politician nexus
Letter to the CM,
CBI enquiry into the nexus between politicians,
the police and criminals
A silent procession of citizens led by Dr. Prabhakar Sinha, Vice-President
PUCL on 2nd October was taken out to protest against criminals, police,
political leaders nexus. The rate of crime is increasing every day due
to this nexus. A five-year boy, Golu, son of a bank employee was abducted
and killed. The body was recovered on 25th September. Thousands of people
came on the street on 26th September to protest against inaction of police.
The police fired on crowd on several places. Ten persons were killed and
seventy injured. The curfew was imposed.
Large number of eminent citizens from different sections of society took
part in the march. It passed through all points of the town where police
firing had taken place. The procession was converted into condolence meeting
at the end to mourn death of those killed in police firing and the boy
killed by abductors.
PUCL Muzaffarpur observed twenty-five year of foundation of PUCL in academic
staff college, Bihar University, Muzaffarpur. The meeting was presided
by Prof. Nawal Kishore. Surendra Kumar, General Secretary welcomed the
guests and members. He also presented a brief account of the history of
the PUCL. Shri Rajdeo Narayan, Senior Advocate and Dr. Sailendra Kumar
Singh were main speakers. Dr. Harendra Kumar, Prof. Rohitas Dubey and
Arvind Kumar Varun, also contributed in deliberation. It was resolved
to expand its activities for safeguarding human rights
