World Human Rights Day Observed
The district branch of the Begusarai People's Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL)
observed World Human Rights Day on December 10. The activists organised a seminar
on the topic "Right to Information" on the occasion and a book authored
by PUCL national council member and district PUCL President, Ramashraya Prasad
Singh was also released by eminent octogenarian freedom fighter, Ramanand Rai.
Main speaker on the occasion was State PUCL Secretary, Ashutosh Kumar. Kumar
in his speech threw light on different aspects of Right to Information.
The function was inaugurated by former district Judge Dwarika Nath Singh.
The district branch also held Inter-school debate on Right to Information. Ashutosh
Kumar distributed prizes among the school kids.
Prominent among the speakers on the occasion included senior advocates, Heera
Babu, Jaggannath Prasad Sinha, PUCL district Secretary Ram Murthy Pd. Singh,
Advocate, Balmiki Singh, Principal Co-operative College, Begusarai, former Principal
of the local G. d College, Begusarai, Akhileshwar Kumar, Shyamdeo Singh, Advocate,
Ram Naresh Sharma, Advocate conducted the seminar and PUCL district President,
Ram Ashray Pd. Singh presided the meet.
Chief Editor of the Human Rights Magazine, Manavadhikar, Arun Kumar represented
the magazine in the seminar organised by Bihar chapter of Indo Tibet friendship
association at A N Sinha Institute of social studies, Patna on the world Human
Rights Day. Speaking on the occasion, Kumar said that subjugation of Tibet by
the Chinese government was greatest violation of human rights across the globe.
