Justice Rana Bhagwan Das
Letter to editor
Indian immigration authorities at Wagah acted quite correctly towards Justice Rana Bhagwandas of Pakistan and should be complimented and not criticized. It was, and should not be, in their power to determine who is to be given preferential treatment. PUCL stands for equality before law. Justice Bhagwandas himself should have admired the conduct of the immigration staff.
The most the Justice was entitled was a courteous expression of regret for the inconvenience he suffered and not for the correct conduct of officials. In a democratic society, what happened at Wagah was hardly newsworthy. – Brijen K Gupta, Rochester, NY August 16, 2006
